Some news reports captured my attention in the last couple of days.  Gold and precious stones over Rs. 1,00,000 Crores were found in The Padmanabha Temple in Kerala,  thus making it the richest temple in India, followed by Tirupati Balaji, whose worth was quoted Rs. 50, 000 crores. These figures are mind boggling. Another news that captured my attention is the padyatra (pilgrimage on foot) by Rahul Gandhi, son of Sonia Gandhi, the head of the political party in power at centre. He is walking in Uttar Pradesh.

The first news is a tragedy of India and the second news is the comedy. Lets talk about the tragedy first. In a country where millions of people live life lesser than animals, and discriminated worst than animals in the name of religion, have temples which have more money than the industries and sometimes considerable amount compared to National budgets. This is the tragedy of excess, in wealth and power, and hence control over the millions of Indian citizens. The right step will be to nationalize all the temples. The temple priests must be appointed with a national examination in the lines of Civil Services and seats needs to be filled in proportion to the population. All the money thus earned should be deposited with National exchequer to be spent for the public welfare and development. India will develop gradually with this approach. It is also tragedy that comic characters like Anna and Ramdeo have not raised any voice against this corruption. The appointment of Lok Pal should also cover this aspect, not just the political leaders. The Babas in India are more corrupt than the babus is now a well known fact.

Lets look at the comedy. Rahul Gandhi is walking in UP, which is the first state ruled by Dalit Party which wiped out Congress Party. This party, the BSP, has the potential to wipe out congress entirely from India, as the Congress is heavily dependent on Dalit votes. The Dalits are being fooled by Congress since independence. Rahul Gandhi knows this that so long as BSP is strong, Congress cant become strong. The BSP is becoming ever powerful and has emerged as the third largest national party in India, the congress is declining. Only BSP has the realistic agenda to address the issues of OBCs, SCs and STs. Why is Rahul Gandhi walking when he can straightaway do the needful through the central government which is in power? This is the comedy at its highest.  When he can do so much to show his worth, he is spending his valuable time walking, of course, in the media glare, which needs these soap operas in the lack of ones.
